The 40 Graus Models modeling agency began in October 2004 and today has a cast of over 200 models including such top models as Joao Vellutini, Ana Beatriz Barros, Bianca Klamt, Thyago Alves, Felipe Hulse and Romulo Pires. In 2005, the prestigious American magazine V selected 40 Graus Models as one of the major modeling agencies on the international scene. The edition of the magazine included a two-page photo, by carioca photographer Vicente de Paulo, of the agency's major models. The ingredients of the success story of 40 Graus Models is the talent of owner, Sergio Mattos, a scout, booker and international director with more than 20 years experience in the fashion world and his first-rate team serving Brazilian and international clients. Mr. Mattos created a modeling agency with a different profile, namely, one with both Brazilian and international bases with a distinct Rio and Brazil look but also offering a wide variety of faces and types for our globalized age.

In 2006, 40 Graus Models was at the forefront once again when it opened a new talent department for media and arts. 40 Graus Models offers actors, actresses and show hosts the same management and advisory services it offers its models for their careers and images including a complementary service of external press coverage.

The dedicated team at 40 Graus Models ensures high-quality services for models, actors, actresses and clients. Our work has, in a short time, produced terrific results in photo essays, editorials, fashion parades and publicity films with the finest photographers for both Brazilian and international clients.

It's good to know..
Know YOUR market

As a model, the best way to increase your chances for success is to evaluate yourself as a model properly and target that specific part of the market that best fits your features.

The two most popular and obvious types of models (and market sections) are "fashion" and "glamour" models (markets). Both have very well-defined specifications and requirements, that, unlike most models want to believe, are completely different from each other. And also the way those two markets operate is completely different - real fashion clients only work through agencies.

A common mistake most models make is aiming at the "high-fashion" market, without meeting the criteria or knowing what "high" fashion even means. Even though when you hear "model" you don't think of a Harvard graduate, most of the successful models are extremely smart and well educated. Always research and be realistic! Even though Kate Moss is just 5'7", she should not be your guide-star. The industry rarely makes exceptions. All model markets are very profitable and if you just stay on the realistic side there should not be a reason not to succeed.
